Generous aromas of clementine, apricot and peach. Layered flavors of meyer lemon, orange zest and kiwi with fresh ginger and a bit of flinty minerality. Crisp without being sharp, this quenching sauvignon blanc is the perfect complement for warm weather fare.
The organically-farmed Estate Vineyard at Bartholomew Park is located at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain range in Sonoma Valley. The unique setting of this vineyard, tucked up against Arroyo Seco, enjoys warm temperatures, constant breezes and excellent drainage typical of higher elevation sites, ideal growing conditions for sauvignon blanc. The tiny two-acre block is meticulously and organically hand-farmed to produce bright, complex citrus flavors. A small amount of the blend comes from two warmer vineyard sites in Napa Valley that contribute notes of peach and apricot.
The grapes were hand-harvested in the cool morning hours and whole-cluster pressed. 80% of the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a cool temperature and 20% in lightly toasted new and neutral barrels to add texture and roundness. A small portion (15%) was fermented with wild yeast. Each of these techniques aided in achieving freshness and forward fruit quality in the wine.
